Montezuma Slot Machine

A significant name in the Aztec history books, Montezuma was not only a great warrior but also the fifth Aztec Emperor (taking over from Emperor Itzcoatl). He ruled between 1440 and 1469 during which the Aztec Empire expanded significantly which he took responsibility.

Set deep in the heart of a South American rainforest at night, the Montezuma slot machine loads with rather dramatic sound effects accompanied by the loud whistling sounds of exotic birds and the beating of Aztec drums. The view on the reels is equally as stunning with all things Aztec featuring, plus there is the Wheel Bonus feature where you are guaranteed at least 10x your stake and can enjoy up to 25 free spins that will see you strut away with wins fit for an Aztec Emperor!

A Temple of Generosity

This adventure through the lands of the Aztec civilization sees us encounter temples, and not only are they packed with vast riches, they offer a wealth of generosity which makes the Montezuma slot machine accessible to players of all levels. Played across 5 reels and 30 fixed paylines it boasts a 95.86% return to player percentage (also known as RTP) which is typical of WMS. It also enabled the bet per line to be adjusted from 1p up to £5 meaning playing with all paylines activated will cost you a minimum of 30p and maximum of £150 per spin – no pockets as deep as an Emperor needed here!

All Things Aztec

There are twelve symbols in total in the Montezuma slot machine with the most iconic of all being the illustrious Aztec Temple that acts as the Wild symbol, and while it can substitute for all others aside from the Feature symbol, it only appears on the second, third and fourth reels. The Feature symbol which is needed for the free spins mode is the bonus wheel.

Of all other symbols it’s Montezuma himself who is the highest valued (five of him on a single payline result in a 10x win) designed in true warrior style and he is accompanied by a beautiful Aztec Princess, an Eagle, Feathered Cap, Dream Catcher, Golden Mask, Snake Statue, plus standard Ace, King, Queen and Jack playing card symbols which are lowest valued of all!

Spin the Wheel for Free Spins

The only bonus feature in the Montezuma slot machine is the Wheel Bonus, but don’t let that put you off as it packs more punch than slots with a variety of bonus features. It’s a free spins mode where you will enjoy varying multipliers on every spin, but first you’ll need to land three or more of the Feature symbols on the reels which firstly earns you a cash rewards as follows.

3 Shield Symbols: 3x your stake

4 Shield Symbols: 10x your stake

5 Shield Symbols: 10x your stake

While the initial cash reward is generous enough, that’s only the beginning. You’ll then be presented with the bonus wheel which is spun to determine the number of free spins that you will enjoy – which will be 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 15 or 25 free spins. On top of this before each and every free spin occur a wheel above the reel set will spin to reveal a multiplier bonus for the spin (which will either be 2x, 3x, 5x or 10x), and while this does prolong the free spins mode and take up a lot of time, the sensational wins that you’ll so often enjoy certainly make up for this.

You’ll also have the ability to retrigger additional free spins simply by landing two or more of the Shield symbols – with up to 25 free spins available again, plus the last multiplier value you triggered is assigned to these. Finally, the Wheel Bonus also boasts a Bonus Guarantee that is present in so many WMS slot machines which guarantees you a 10x your stake win at minimum – all that effort triggering the required combination won’t be in vain!

Join the Aztec Civilization

There have been countless slots released based on the Aztec civilization with one of my favourites being Barcrest’s King of the Aztecs, but the majority of them are rather generic so the fact that this is actually based in an Emperor from the history books makes it more appealing.

That appeal grows with the stunning design of the background and symbols, the unique sounds of the rainforest and Aztec tribe beating drums, plus the incredible Wheel Bonus feature which brings wins that even an Emperor would be proud of!
