Blade Slot Machine

Another legend in the Marvel comic line-up, Blade made his first appearance back in July 1973 when he appeared in a comic book titled ‘The Tomb of Dracula’ as a supporting character. The reception was so good that Marvel spawned comics and movies based solely on the vampire hunter himself who swears vengeance on those who killed his mother.

The original Blade movie hit the cinema screens in 1998 featuring Wesley Snipes in the leading role and proved so popular that there have been two sequels – Blade II in 2002, and Blade Trinity in 2004, plus there are talks of yet another in the near future.

That success has been recreated across 5 reels and 20 paylines thanks to Playtech, and it remains one of the most played online slots at online casinos powered by Playtech such as the Bet365 Casino, as well as in our free online slots section.

With authentic sounds from the movie playing out as the reels spin, a bloodthirsty design which truly gets you into a vampire hunting mood, the opportunity to get six symbol winning combinations, and a dynamic free games feature that offers huge multipliers, it’s easy to see why Blade is so popular!

Bloodthirsty Symbols

The symbols in Blade are fantastic and really enhance the bloodthirsty theme of the slot. As you’d expect, it’s Blade himself who is the featured symbol and thus of highest value – plus he acts as the Wild symbol substituting for all others except the Scatter and Symbol Split symbols. Should you land five of him on a single payline you are rewarded with a hefty 2500 coin win, while landing six of him with the Symbol Split feature pays out a jaw-dropping 25000 coin win. Other special symbols include the Split and Scatter which are required for their corresponding features which are listed below.

A terrifying female vampire is the next most valuable symbol with five of her on a payline resulting in a 1000 coin win, while she is accompanied by a submachine gun, and Blade’s trusty stash of anti-vampire weapons including blade, stakes and needles. There are also the typical low valued Ace to 10 symbols which have been designed in a sharp blade style.

Dynamic Free Games

Simply land three or more of the Blade logo symbols anywhere on the reels and you will be rewarded with 15 free spins, but it gets better – much better!

The free spins begin with a random initial multiplier of either 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5x and after every winning spin the multiplier increases in steps of 2x, 3x, 4x, or 5 although should you fail to land a winning combination the multiplier count decreases instead to a minimum of 2x. It’s also very generous that it extra free games can be won simply by landing three or more Scatter symbols while your free spins play out.

Blade Symbol Split

The Symbol Split feature actually reminded me of Novomatic’s Book of Ra 6 Deluxe slot. While you cannot select to play six reels, the Symbol Split offers the ability to have paylines pay out for six symbol combinations.

When the Split symbol lands on the fifth reel in any position the previous symbol of a winning combination is split into two and therefore counts as two separate but identical symbols, meaning a six on a payline win is achievable.

This offers the potential for some huge wins with the largest being the Blade Wild which pays 25,000 coins, the female vampire paying 4,000 coins, and the submachine gun paying 3000 coins for six on a payline.

Nothing Spectacular…

Unfortunately Blade is nothing spectacular, but that is of no surprise as it is rather hard to compete against the excellence of other Marvel characters, with my personal favourite alternatives being the Wolverine slot machine and Captain America slot machine which both offer even more lucrative free spins modes which is the highlight of Blade.

The Split Symbol feature is a nice touch, however with how rare this actually occurs it is simply not enough of a reason to stick to playing Blade. If you like gritty, vampire themed slots you can’t go wrong with it though, it’s certainly a nice change for a few spins!
